We probably don’t need to tell you, but Malaga’s coast, known as the Costa del Sol, is super famous for beach holidays. However, some people skip over the city of Malaga and venture further on down the coast. But the truth is, you don’t need to go far from the city center to enjoy beautiful sandy beaches.
We have put together a collection of fantastic beach hotels that are either directly in the city of Malaga or a maximum of 10 minutes drive away. If you want to be on the beach but within walking distance of Malaga’s old town, then look at hotels on Malagueta beach. If you prefer something more laid back, then look no further than the fishing neighborhood of Pedregalejo.

The Vincci Malaga may be the most perfect beach hotel for your holiday in Malaga. It has an unbeatable location just across the street from Misericordia beach and super close to the airport (10 min taxi ride). Malaga’s center is also a short ride away (10 min by taxi or 25 min by bus).
The hotel features elegant modern décor with bold accents. The whole place is light and airy. The staff is super welcoming and will go out of their way to accommodate you. The spacious beds are a huge plus, as is the pillows menu.
In the surrounding you will find a variety of beach bars and restaurants as well as playground areas to keep children entertained.
The Vincci Malaga also has a restaurant and a café bar with a nice terrace. The food is fantastic. On site private parking costs 20 €/day.
If you want to splurge, look no further than the Miramar Palace Hotel. This luxurious 5 star hotel is nothing short of spectacular. It opened in 1926 and was inaugurated by King Alfonso XIII. Today, it still looks like a resort for royalty.
The hotel occupies an impressive palatial building right in front of Malaga’s most popular beach, Playa de la Malagueta. The rooms are elegantly designed with traditional décor that has a Moorish flare. Inside, you will find all of the amenities you could dream of.
Apart from the spa and seasonal pool, guests also love the rooftop chill-out terrace with a bar and stunning sea views.
The hotel's Príncipe de Asturias restaurant serves international dishes with a Mediterranean touch. There is also a more informal café bar on the premises.
The on site private parking costs 29 €/night.
La Casa Azul is a small but charming B&B housed in a 19th century building just 5-minutes walk from the Malagueta beach. And, what’s even better, the historic center is only a 10-min walk away.
This accommodation offers double rooms with private bathroom as well as 2 bedroom apartments, perfect for families with children. The traditional décor complements perfectly the historic building that it occupies. The rooms are bright and all of them feature a large window or balcony.
Guests love the friendly and helpful staff as well as the delicious breakfast.
The on site private parking at Casa Azul costs 15 €/day.
The 4 star Hotel MS Maestranza Málaga is another great option if you want to be close to Malagueta beach (2 min walk) but still within walking distance to Malaga’s old town (less than 10 min away). It features simple traditional décor in warm tones.
The rooftop terrace has a jacuzzi surrounded by sun loungers. It boasts awesome port and city views with the imposing Gibralfaro castle in the foreground.
Guest can access the relax area for free, which includes a sauna, jacuzzi and Turkish bath.

While it might not be the most modern, the MS Maestranza Málaga offers good value for the money at a great location.
The Soho Boutique Las Vegas is a 3 star hotel that boasts an incredible beachfront location right where the Malagueta and Caleta beaches meet. The hotel also has a swimming pool surrounded by a small garden.
While some of the rooms have been recently renovated others still have old décor. However, they are all spacious and have a balcony. There are also rooms for 3 and 4 people, perfect for groups of friends and families with children.
There are two café bars on site as well as a large variety of bars and restaurants in the area.
Guests interested in visiting the city center can take advantage of the super convenient bus stop located next to the hotel. From there, you can reach Malaga’s cathedral in 10 minutes.

Boasting amazing views of the bay of Malaga, the 5 star Soho Boutique Castillo de Santa Catalina occupies a beautifully renovated castle surrounded by well manicured gardens. It is located in the exclusive neighborhood of El Limonar, just 800 m from La Caleta beach (10 min walk).
This accommodation excels at offering a warm atmosphere that makes guests feel at home while maintaining a very tranquil environment. The elegant and classy décor complements perfectly the ambiance of the historic building that the hotel occupies.
Having breakfast in the patio while enjoying the spectacular sea views is highly recommended.
The restaurant’s terrace is occasionally used for live music. There is also free parking on site.
The Hotel Boutique Villa Lorena occupies a restored villa in the upscale residential neighborhood of El Limonar. The building has been transformed into a cozy hotel away from the noise of the city, perfect for those who love peace and quiet.
This hotel features a pool and a small garden. Its 7 rooms are stylish and spacious. Most of them have a balcony or terrace.
The Hotel Boutique Villa Lorena offers guests the possibility to use their bikes for free. This can be a great way to enjoy the seaside promenade or get to the city center to take advantage of the many things to do in Malaga. But if bikes aren’t for you, it is also very easy to get downtown by bus.

The Hotel Boutique Villa Lorena offers great value for the money and can be the perfect choice for those looking for a special tranquil accommodation that doesn’t break the bank.
Soho Los Naranjos is a budget accommodation steps away from the beach (3 min walk away). This 3-star Mediterranean style hotel is welcoming and features simple classic décor. Apart from individual and double, they also have triple rooms for 3 adults and family rooms for up to 2 adults and 2 children.
Although it is a tad on the basic side, it is difficult to beat the prices of the hotel Soho Los Naranjos, especially with it being so close to the beachfront.
There is also a large variety of bars and restaurants in the surroundings. On site private parking costs 12,50 €/day. However, note that some guests complain about how tight it is.
La Chancla Hotel which translates as “The Sandal Hotel,” is our favorite place to stay in Pedregalejo. This small 3 star boutique hotel has a young and fresh vibe. It also ticks off pretty much every box for being a perfect laid back beach retreat.
For starters, it’s located directly on the beach and has sunbeds with umbrellas just steps outside the door. The hotel’s decor is beachy and tastefully designed. The hotel’s restaurant cooks up delicious food and the breakfast is fantastic. There’s even a rooftop self-service bar with a jacuzzi that overlooks the sea.
La Chancla has everything you could possibly want for a relaxing vacation. But it is also perfectly located. Just walk down the boardwalk and enjoy any of the numerous restaurants that Pedregalejo has to offer.
And if you want to explore even further, you are just a short bus ride away from Malaga’s center. There isn’t even a need to hire a car. But if you happen to arrive by car, the nearby public parking costs 10 €/day.
There’s a reason why some people call La Chancla “Pedregelajo’s best kept secret.” We couldn’t agree more.
Elcano is a modest 2 star hotel offering great value for the money in Pedregalejo. Although it’s not located directly on the beach, it’s just 5 min walk away.
The interior décor features cheerful colors and charming traditional furnishings made of wrought iron and wood. Outside, the whitewashed and terracotta buildings contribute to an authentic Andalusian atmosphere.
The rooms at Hotel Elcano are large and the beds comfy. The breakfast is delicious, the staff is friendly and the hotel has everything you need. The room prices are also pretty competitive.
If you want to go to Malaga’s center, there’s a bus stop literally 10 meters away from the hotel. You can be in the center of the city in less than 20 minutes.
