Best way to travel from Cordoba to Malaga

  • The high speed train is the fastest (under 50 min) and most convenient (over 15 daily trains).
  • Car is the next quickest option (1 h 45 min)
  • Buses are slower (2h 30 min to 4 h) but it can be an option if you are traveling on a budget.

Train

Train is a great option to travel between Malaga and Cordoba since the high speed train (AVE) connects both cities in less than 50 min. This option is not only the fastest, but also very convenient because the trains are very frequent.

There are over 15 daily high speed trains. You can expect to pay between 18 and 42€ depending on whether you buy the ticket in advance and are flexible with the departure time.

From Malaga’s train station, it is possible to continue to the airport by train (commuter train C-1).

MALAGA'S TRAIN STATION

Malaga’s main train station is called Estación de María Zambrano and is located south-west of the city center. To give you an idea, it is a 20-min walk to the cathedral. Several city bus lines connect the station with the center. For up-to-date information on the local city buses: www.emtmalaga.es

From the train station, it is possible to continue to the airport by train (commuter train C-1).

CORDOBA'S TRAIN STATION

Cordoba’s train station is located about 2 km (1.25 miles) north of the city center. To give you an idea, it is 1.8 km away (1.1 miles) from the Great Mosque. The city bus lines 3 and 5 connect the train station with the city center.

Car

The car trip from Malaga to Cordoba takes about 1 h 45 min. The fastest route goes straight north following the highway A-45.

Bus

The company ALSA runs about 4 buses per day from Malaga to Cordoba. In Malaga, one of the buses stops at the airport (and about 9 more towns on the way).

The trip lasts between 2 h 30 min and 4 h, depending on the number of stops on the way and where you get in/out of the bus in Malaga. The ticket price ranges from 7 to 14€.
