In Cordoba, you’ll find many local dishes that have been influenced by the Moors and have a very distinctive taste. Salmorejo, mazamorra, eggplant with honey, oxtail and flamenquín are all over the city.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of touristy restaurants serving poor quality food around the Mosque of Cordoba and the Jewish quarter. To save you from having a bad experience, we have curated a list of the top restaurants & bars. Enjoy!
Located right in front of the Roman ruins, Taberna la Cuarta offers creative cuisine that merges local recipes with foreign influences. Some examples are pad thais, ceviches, risottos, etc. They have a nice selection of aged txuleton steaks.
Taberna la Cuarta also has a nice terrace outside with views of the Roman temple.

Regadera executes traditional cuisine with a twist (e.g. boneless oxtail with potato mousse). Featuring its own spices garden, it offers modern and honest cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. The dishes are creative and beautifully presented.
It’s located on the riverfront, close to the Mosque and the Roman bridge. Reservations are recommended.

La Fuente 12 is a delightful restaurant tucked away in a quiet street close to the San Francisco church. They use fresh ingredients and have a lot of local dishes such as fried eggplant with honey and flamenquin.
The service is excellent and the prices are very fair. We really enjoy the cod and their oxtail which is extremely tender.

Casa Pepe is located in the historic Jewish quarter. It has a bit of an upscale feel to it and it is also not the cheapest option, however, the quality is quite high. One of the highlights is their rooftop terrace which has gorgeous views of the Mosque tower.
Some of their dishes include rack of lamb, duck cannelloni, scallops, tuna belly with fried egg and oxtail. We recommend to make a reservation, especially if you want to be seated on the rooftop terrace.
Address: Calle Romero 1
La Bicicleta is a cool juice bar that also specializes in “zubatas” (a.k.a. “cubata + zumo” which means “long drink + juice”). With its informal retro decoration, La Bicicleta is popular among both locals and visitors. It is also a great spot for a late breakfast (usually opens at 10am) or a snack throughout the day (hummus, toasts, etc.).
Address: Calle Cardenal Gonzalez 1
Nice café offering breakfast, cake, local sweets, chocolate con churros, ice cream, etc. In the back they have a beautiful modern patio – a great place to sip on a coffee. They also rent out some stylish modern apartments.
Address: Calle Cardenal Gonzalez 9
Located right on the river front, this local ice cream shop offers homemade Italian ice cream using local ingredients. The fantastic flavors change with the seasons. E.g. lemon-ginger, mojito, white chocolate & pistachio, etc.
Address: Ronda de Isasa 2
If you are looking for an authentic experience outside of the touristy area, then Taberna el Poema is a great choice. It’s an old-school establishment with a welcoming atmosphere and a great tapas selection. It is reasonably priced and you get a free tapa with each drink. For just 10 € you can get a “menú del día” (menu of the day). Also, the kitchen is open all day.
