The beaches of Alicante are synonymous with calm waters, golden sand and long days of sunshine. It’s a great beach destination where you can both totally relax and also enjoy the amenities that the city has to offer.
Some of Alicante’s beach hotels are located within a hop skip and a jump away from the old town, while others are located just a little further down the coast, such as those along Playa San Juan. However, even the beach hotels outside of the center still have easy access to it via the coastal tram line. That way you can easily do some sightseeing or take advantage of the city’s vibrant restaurants and nightlife scene.

HOTELS IN ALICANTE'S CITY CENTER
If you come to Alicante looking for a beach vacation, then the Hotel Almirante is an unbeatable option. It boasts a great location, just 2-minute walk away from Playa de San Juan — the longest beach on the Costa Blanca. In addition, the hotel has a large outdoor pool, surrounded by hammocks and beds. And if you want to get to the center of Alicante, it will only take you about 10 minutes by car or a short tram ride.
Rooms at the Almirante have been recently refurbished. They feature modern decor and a balcony or terrace. The hotel also has a bar and restaurant, the Pocardy, which specializes in Mediterranean cuisine. Another great advantage of this establishment is its free parking.
But if this 3-star accommodation has piqued your interest, you should know that its price fluctuates a lot throughout the year. So if you are on a tighter budget, we recommend visiting it outside the high season.
The Hotel Castilla Alicante is a 3-star accommodation located just 200 meters from the San Juan beach. The area is rather quiet but with a good atmosphere, which will allow you to make the most of a few days of calm and sun. In addition, the hotel offers an outdoor swimming pool and, for a supplement, access to the ARENA Sports Club spa and the Alicante Golf Club.
Around the accommodation you will also find a variety of bars and restaurants. However, if you don't feel like leaving the hotel, on site you will find the Castilla Restaurant, which serves homemade food and has a cafeteria.
All the hotel rooms have a terrace and are south-facing, ensuring that you get plenty of sun.
The Hotel Castilla Alicante has private parking. Its price is 8 €/day.
The Hotel Port Alicante City & Beach is a fabulous and elegant 4-star accommodation featuring an outdoor swimming pool, spa and gym, as well as a playground with a children's pool and 2 paddle tennis courts.
Although not the cheapest, the Hotel Port Alicante City & Beach looks to be one of the most stylish accommodations in the area. We say “looks”, because most of their photos are architectural renderings. The hotel was completely renovated in 2022 but so far, we haven’t seen how the finished product has turned out.
From the hotel, it is possible to walk to Playa de San Juan in about 10 minutes and on the way you will find a variety of stores, bars and restaurants. However, the Hotel Port Alicante City & Beach has its own restaurant, the Tamayo, where you will have the opportunity to taste traditional dishes of the Mediterranean culture -such as paella. Or if you prefer, you can always opt for the buffet service.
If you come by car, you will also be interested to know that this hotel offers free parking.
A 2-minute walk from the beach, the Meliá Alicante offers excellent views of both the Postiguet Beach and the port. And almost all of the rooms have terrace and sea views. Besides the awesome terraces, you can always immerse yourself in the endless expanse of the sea from the infinity pool, one of the perks of staying at The Level, a separate part of the hotel that's for adults only.
In its spacious rooms that are modern in style and impeccable in appearance, you can enjoy flat-screen TV, minibar and air conditioning, as well as free WiFi throughout the hotel.
Remember to visit the Trasluz restaurant, specializing in rice dishes and fresh fish, after a visit to the Co-cathedral of San Nicolás or the Santa Cruz neighborhood, both located just 600 meters away.
The Meliá Alicante has its own private parking. It costs 20 €/day.
The Hotel Spa Porta Maris by Meliá is located 100 meters from the Paseo de Las Palmeras, between Postiguet Beach and the Alicante marina. But, what sets this accommodation apart from other hotels in downtown Alicante? Its water facilities, consisting of a spa and heated pool. In addition, you can also enjoy massages, facials and body treatments. Nothing like pampering your body after a hard training session in the hotel’s gym – or just relaxing on the beach, we won’t judge.
You can then decide whether to admire the views of the Bay of Alicante from your room or from the Alborada lounge – where the buffet breakfast is served. There’s also the Marabierta Restaurant that offers typical Mediterranean dishes.
Parking at this hotel costs 19.95 €/day.
Although the city is home to several hotels from this chain, the Eurostars Mediterránea Plaza is the most beautiful of them all. The wonderful views of the old town from its rooftop terrace is one of the many advantages this hotel has to offer. In fact, if the Eurostars Mediterránea Plaza stands out for anything, it’s for its location: next to the Plaza Santísima Faz and the town hall – one of our favorite areas of the city. And the Santa Barbara Castle and the Postiguet Beach are just a short walk away. In addition, the hotel is not only surrounded by a large number of restaurants, but also offers a varied buffet breakfast.
Moreover, this 4-star accommodation boasts not only WiFi, gym and sauna, but also modern rooms, equipped with air conditioning, TV and minibar.
Although the Eurostars Mediterránea Plaza doesn’t have its own parking, it offers guests a discounted rate of 9.50 €/day at a nearby parking.
The Hotel Serawa Alicante is a 4 star accommodation located 2 minutes from the beach and very close to other places of interest such as the Explanada de España and the Museum of Contemporary Art. The reason why we recommend this accommodation above other hotels in Alicante's center is because of its fabulous facilities, relaxed atmosphere and avant-garde furniture.
The hotel has been designed with sustainability in mind. Besides using eco friendly materials and having hypoallergenic rooms, Serawa is all about giving guests a healthy and rejuvenating experience. The hotel’s restaurant offers some incredible dining experiences (including vegan options) made with the best locally sourced ingredients.
Unfortunately, there is no parking at the Hotel Serawa Alicante.
Located at the foot of the Santa Barbara Castle, the Hotel Maya Alicante is situated halfway between the beach and the old town. In fact, in just a 5-minute walk from the hotel you will find the Postiguet Beach and also the Plaza Mar 2 shopping center.
Hotel Maya features an outdoor pool, a gym with panoramic views, a restaurant serving national and international dishes and a cafeteria. Families traveling with kids, will enjoy the hotel’s playground, mini-golf and children entertainment program.
The Maya is one of the beach hotels in Alicante that experiences the greatest variation in prices. So keep that in mind if you're on a tight budget – avoid the months of July and August!

Another great beach hotel in the area worth considering is the Hotel Boutique Calas de Alicante, a 3-star accommodation located 2 minutes from Almadraba Beach. If your goal is to disconnect from the day to day, resting on this beach is an ideal decision, as tranquility reigns supreme there. However, its waters are usually cloudy, so for bathing Playa de la Albufereta and Playa de San Juan are the two closest options.
The Boutique Hotel Calas de Alicante is a small and cozy hotel inspired by a medieval theme. All rooms have a balcony with sea or garden views and are spread around the pool.
In the hotel's restaurant you will find local and Mediterranean dishes, as well as gluten-free alternatives on request. Pets are allowed and parking is available for 6€/day.
Sandra Rooms is among the cheapest and best value beach hotels in Alicante. Even in the high season, you can still get fantastic room rates.
Walk for just 5 minutes from the hotel and you will find yourself on Albufereta Beach. Other nearby beaches are Almadraba, 1.1 km away, and the beautiful Cala de la Palmera, 2.6 km away.
The rooms are comfortable and well soundproofed. Some even have a patio and garden views.
